“Ephemere Photo Fair” — A Possibility!

Hello everyone,

I hope you’re doing well! I’m reaching out to all the photographers I’ve worked with on their photo book or zine projects (whether completed or ongoing) and artists/groups I’ve collaborated with through Ephemere about an exciting potential event in February 2025.

Update: Event duration will be from mid-February to mid-March.

Event Overview
I’m collaborating with Midori.SO, a gallery space in Bakuro-Yokoyama, Nihonbashi, Tokyo. They have penciled in the dates from February 7th to 22nd for Ephemere, and I’m planning an event that could be our first-ever mini photography fair!

Initially, I considered hosting a group exhibition. However, since the collaboration will incur some costs (though we’re receiving a friendly discount), I thought it would be a great opportunity to make the event bigger and showcase all of our publications—including yours!

What to Expect
I’m imagining this event as a celebration of the work we’ve done together. Beyond the exhibition of our titles, I’m considering additional programs to further our mission of championing visual literacy. Some ideas include:

  • Group exhibitions throughout the event

  • Artist talks, portfolio reviews during the weekends

  • Book launches and signings, etc.

It’s an ambitious plan, but I’ve done something similar before in 2017, called Monomania: A Black-and-White Photo Fair in Manila. With sponsorships from Fujifilm and The Japan Foundation, along with media partnerships, it was a great success (you can refer to my interview at C4 Journal).

Ephemere is still growing, but I believe it’s worth trying something similar here in Tokyo. As part of our community, I’d love for you to be involved.

How You Can Participate
I’m inviting you to come to Tokyo and be part of this two-week event! Please fill out the short form below by October 31st to help me plan the schedule and content.

Financial Considerations
Please note that I am unable to provide financial support for travel or accommodations. I recommend looking into creative grants or similar funding opportunities in your country that might help cover your expenses.

Join the Conversation
To keep the conversation going and stay organized, I encourage you to join our Google Chat group after submitting the form above. It will help me keep track of everyone’s input, and it’s a great way to connect with the rest of our community!

Important Note
As we are still in the planning phase, please do not publicly share any of the information here without my permission.

Looking forward to hearing from you and seeing how we can make “Ephemere Photo Fair” a success!

Sincerely,
Anne
