Publishing Assistant
This is a key role at Ephemere, requiring dedication, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for photography and publishing. As Publishing Assistant, you will work closely with the publisher to oversee various aspects of the publication process, from project management and production to marketing and communication. This role involves significant involvement and requires a commitment of at least 6 months. Strong organizational and communication skills and a genuine interest in photography and publishing are essential.

Product Photographer
Capture high-quality photographs of our photobooks for use in our online catalog, Instagram, and other promotional materials. A keen eye for detail, experience with product photography, and an understanding of Ephemere's aesthetic are essential. While we can provide photo books to photographers based in Japan, we are open to considering photographers from anywhere in the world.

Web Assistant
Help us enhance the look and feel of our website, ensuring a user-friendly experience, particularly for our online shop. Experience with Squarespace and a keen eye for design, particularly minimalism, are crucial.

Designers
Bring your keen eye for design and expertise in photobook layouts to enhance Ephemere's printed publications. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), a strong understanding of typography and layout, and experience with photobook design are essential.

Writers
Contribute engaging articles monthly, including artist interviews and reviews of photobooks or zines, for our online journal. Excellent writing and communication skills, a passion for photography, and the ability to conduct interviews and write insightful reviews are crucial.

Translators
Help us translate English content to Japanese for our website, photo books, and other materials. Native fluency in both English and Japanese is essential. A passion for photobooks and publishing is a plus.

Instagram Manager
Manage our Instagram account, create engaging content, interact with followers, and help grow our online presence. Experience with Instagram marketing, content creation skills (photography, videography, graphic design), and a strong understanding of social media engagement strategies are needed. Proficiency in Canva is a plus for creating collaborative posts.

While most volunteer positions at Ephemere are currently unpaid, we are committed to offering a rewarding experience through artistic collaboration and opportunities for professional growth. We are actively exploring ways to offer more paid opportunities as we grow. However, we are pleased to offer some paid opportunities for graphic designers on a project basis, as some photographers are able to contribute to design fees.
